The real Bloody Mary

The real Bloody Mary is a cocktail consisting mainly of vodka and tomato juice. It is traditionally served before meals as a mouthful. This cocktail was popularized in the late 1920s by Ferdinand "Pete" Petiot, bartender at the St. Regis Hotel in New York. Petiot claimed that the cocktail was invented in the 1910s by a French bartender named Fernand "Pete" Petiot.


  • 3 cl Vodka
  • 25 cl Tomato juice
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt
  • Tabasco sauce
  • celery stalks
  • green olives

Preparation steps

  1. Pour the lemon juice into a cocktail glass.
  2. Add the celery salt, a few drops of tabasco and the Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Ajoutez la vodka et des glaçons
  4. Top with tomato juice.
  5. Stir with a spoon.
  6. Add a celery sprig.

  7. Decoration: Add green olives and other pickles on a wooden stick and place it on the edge of the glass.
