Lavender and Meyer Lemon Cocktail - A Variation of the Tom Collins
Our Lavender and Meyer Lemon Cocktail is a bold reinterpretation of the famous Tom Collins. Teasing with the notes of a Gin Rickey or a Gimlet, this cocktail presents an herbaceous effervescence that will awaken your senses. With its refreshing blend of robust flavors and delicate lavender undertones, it's the perfect choice for a summer evening or any occasion where you want to introduce a floral touch to your libation.
Ingredients
- For the syrup:
- 300 ml water
- 200g white sugar
- A bunch of fresh lavender (or 3 tablespoons of dried lavender flowers)
- For the cocktail:
- 30 ml lavender syrup
- 30 ml Meyer lemon juice (about half a lemon)
- 60 ml quality gin
- Ice cubes
- Sparkling water
Preparation steps
- o prepare the homemade syrup, combine the water, sugar, and lavender in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over high heat.
- Then, remove from heat, cover, and let it steep for about 20 minutes.
- Strain the mixture to remove the lavender and refrigerate the syrup until ready to use.
- To prepare the cocktail, fill a glass halfway with ice cubes.
- Next, pour the lavender syrup, Meyer lemon juice, and gin over the ice.
- Stir well, then add the sparkling water to fill up the glass.
- For a "martini" version of this Tom Collins: Fill a shaker with ice cubes, add the syrup, lemon juice, and gin.
- Close the shaker and shake for about thirty seconds until the mixture becomes frothy.
- Pour it all into a martini glass and add sparkling water (between 30 and 60 ml).
