Ingredients

  • 7 green cardamom pods
  • ½ teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 10g fresh ginger
  • 500g medium-fat milk
  • 500g water
  • 40g brown sugar, amount can be adjusted according to individual preferences
  • 2 pinches freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 pinches cinnamon powder
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons high-quality black tea, such as Ceylon or Assam

Preparation steps

  1. Crush the cardamom pods, fennel seeds, and fresh ginger using a mortar and pestle or a blender.
  2. In a saucepan, add the milk, water, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns, and the crushed spice mixture. Mix well.
  3. Heat over medium heat and let it boil for about 8 minutes.
  4. Add the black tea and let it steep for about 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the spices and tea leaves.
